I'm trying to push a fellow Bobcat for a job here in St. Louis. It'd be cool to have somebody around that I know, but it goes to show you how powerful the almighty Bobcat alumni network is.
I'm excited because I'll be appearing (with a credit) in the magazine for the first time this week. Yes, it's only about 100 words, but it's something. I think it's a big deal for someone my age. I did a note on the Jordan Brand auction for Hurricane Katrina. When i pick up the mag, I'll post a picture of what I wrote. But for now, here's a link to the auctions (not for the faint of heart).

I'm also doing a few little tiny things about who to watch from the MAC, MAAC and MEAC in the NCAA Tournament. I'm just glad they think enough of me to let me take a stab at this kind of thing. That won't be out for another two weeks or so.
Speaking of work, this is a pretty big deal. I always knew when I got into this business that this was possible, but that doesn't mean it doesn't bother me. Evidently, according to Reuters, we're weighing takeover offers. Sporting News is a valuable brand name, but we're third to Sports Illustrated and ESPN the Magazine when it comes to circulation. Paul Allen (owner of the Seahawks, Blazers and co-founder of some company that makes Windows) is our owner, so I'll be curious to see what his next move is. I can't get into any details about anything (because, well, I don't know any). But here's the article I found on Google News (there are a lot, so go look if you don't like this one).

(EDIT: Here's a more recent link that says Paul Allen is weighing offers...)

Well, I guess that's really all for now. I'd love to say you missed some great and significant development during the last week, but it was basically a lot of TV and XBOX 360. (Which reminds me, Arrested Development's finale was great. I'm totally OK if it never comes back).
